Dr. Swathi Atluri
When it comes to finding a dentist near Viridian, you won’t find another local professional quite like Dr. Atluri. Earning her dental degree in India in 2005, she practiced in her home country before moving to the U.S. and attending the New York University College of Dentistry. Completing her DDS in 2011, she worked in the Carolinas for a decade before moving to Texas to be near her family.
With more than 12 years of experience, she remains an avid learner, regularly pursuing continuing education courses that allow her to hone her skills and expand her knowledge in root canal treatment, dental implant restoration, and Invisalign.
When it comes to being a dentist, she admits, “I feel so lucky to be in a career that brings me so much joy. I have always had a keen eye for detail when it comes to both sciences and the arts. Dentistry helps me combine this talent with my passion for helping others.”
Apart from her work in our dental office near Viridian, she is also an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the American Academy of Clear Aligners, and the International Dental Implant Association.

Homepage FAQs
How do I get emergency dental care?
The first step in obtaining emergency dental care is to call Smile Dental of Arlington directly and let our staff assist you. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.
Most hospital emergency rooms, mobile ERs, and urgent care clinics are not equipped to handle dental emergencies, and thus, if you go there, you are unlikely to be treated.
In most cases, you can expect a same-day appointment at Smile Dental of Arlington. We even offer convenient Saturday hours, but please contact us at your earliest convenience for scheduling.
Dental emergencies are often an indicator of larger dental problems, and a sign that it’s time to get back into the habit of regularly visiting Dr. Atluri. Regular exams and cleanings can help prevent future emergencies, saving you time, money, and your natural teeth!
How do I find the best place to get dental work done?
The first step in finding the best place to get dental work done is to define what you’re looking for, or what matters most to you. Usually, this is a combination of several things, including welcoming your dental insurance, the cost of treatment, the location of the practice, the dentist’s credentials, the safety and cleanliness of the office, and the hours of operation. Additionally, it is important to know what kind of dental care you need, such as someone who can treat children, provide routine check-ups and cleanings, perform major restorative work, offers braces, or who can perform cosmetic dentistry procedures, as certain dentists are better choices for certain treatments.
Finally, you should get a feel for the practice, including how they treat their patients. At Smile Dental of Arlington, we believe in complete transparency with our patients. We take the time to explain your treatment and go the extra mile to ensure that you understand your options so you can comfortably make your own care decisions. We welcome you to read Dr. Atluri’s bio to get to know more about her and check out our reviews to learn more about what our patients have to say about us.
How much does a dental check-up & cleaning cost near Viridian?
The cost of a dental check-up and cleaning can vary depending on geographic location and many other factors, including the condition of your oral health.
Each check-up and cleaning should begin with a thorough patient health history and a discussion of your concerns. You should also receive a comprehensive examination by Dr. Atluri, a professional cleaning, X-rays, and an oral cancer screening.
The average cost of a check-up and cleaning across the United States is between $200 and $350. If you have dental insurance, the fees for a check-up and cleaning (including any out-of-pocket copays) are negotiated with us by your insurance company.
What level of education is required to be a dentist?
All dentists in the United States must have earned either their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) from one of the country’s 67 Accredited dental schools.
Acceptance into dental school requires the student to have earned a bachelor's degree, as well as high grades in a major that is heavy in math and science.
Dental school is an additional three years, which are a combination of classroom and hands-on learning.
Following dental school, some dentists choose to continue their education by earning one of twelve specializations recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). These require an additional three or more years of dental school training.
Following graduation, all dentists are required to complete a certain number of continuing education hours annually in order to keep their dental license active.
